GKU Sports

Sports contribute to the developments of personal and social values that are very important in educational process of the students. Sports is a school where player learns the values like commitment, discipline, perseverance, self-discipline, team work, learn to compete, controlled success and failure etc. Understanding the importance of the sports, the Guru Kashi University included the sports as an integral part of its educational structure since its inception in 2011.
The Directorate of Sports of the University has established the perfect path for the development of University Sports by adopting the professional approaches. The department runs the centres for upcoming promising Sportspersons in all disciplines for imparting the training and organises the specific advance training programmes during the camps before participation into the All India Inter University Competitions.
Directorate of Sports provides the channels and ample opportunities to the budding athletes of Campus to perform with excellence at National and International level. The department organises about 51 inter College Championships in men and women sections in different sports disciplines. Coaching camps of minimum 21 days for the university teams prior to their participation in the inter-University Championships are organised. The department will send about 30 teams consisting of 400 men and women players approx. for participation in inter University Championships and will organise All India Inter University Championships in Archery men and women and Power Lifting men.
The department has a well-trained and fully committed coaches in the disciplines of Athletics, Archery, Boxing and Karate at campus and Athletics, Wresting, Weightlifting, Taekwondo, Judo and Boxing at various off campus centres. It needs no reiteration that the department has been moving on the path of sustained growth, both quantitative and qualitative, speedily and steadily crossing important milestones one after the other in terms of improved sports infrastructure development. The primary aim of the department throughout has been to offer playing opportunity to all university students desirous of practicing Sports seriously, and encourage the talented ones to make sincere effort to achieve the highest distinction in sports at national and international levels by providing them the best available inputs in terms of equipment, coaching, nutrition etc.
